Gallanova integral forestry solution is a product addressed to land owners that are interested in optimizing its forestall plantations including pine, eucalyptus, oak and chestnut. This solution consists in introducing especial plants that act as hyperabsorbent of pollutants, particularly of heavy metals, in order to remove naturally such elements from the soil. By using especial willow clones we are reducing heavy metal pollution at a rate of 5% annually, without causing any negative impact in the farming land. This product is showing particularly successful and is a attracting a lot of interest from the farmers and from the authorities.

Gallanova defined the vision of developing research programs and establishing collaboration agreements aimed at advancing new products, processes and technologies that maximize the quality, use and valorization of the endogenous resources of the Galician rural environment. Gallanova also maintains direct and constant contact with farmers’ associations, researchers, material suppliers, installers, industrial biomass consumers, metal recyclers, public administrations and other actors that must be involved in the development of R&I projects.

Since 2016 Gallanova have had a lead role in the technical development of the FEDER project Souto Plus, established to produce chestnut clones suitable to improve the productivity of such plantations. During this time, we produced a number of materials, know-how of the innovation system and a network of key stakeholders that positioned our company as a reference for innovation in agro-forestry in the Euro-region Galicia-North of Portugal.

We are collaborating with the National Council of Scientific Research in order to develop special clones to absorb heavy elements including heavy metals and other high value materials.
